Violin, string

Beginning String Ensemble

Instructor: Patti McCallum

This is a 10-week class for string students who have completed Book 1 in any string series. Students will have the experience of playing with others while working on playing to the same beat, playing in tune, and following a conductor/teacher. A recital will be given the last class.

Fee: $60 ($30 for registered students also enrolled in private lessons)
(Payment is due once the minimum number has registered, minimum of 4 students per class)

Lesson books are provided.

Dates offered: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:00pm, February 21 – April 24

Violin, string

String Ensemble

– No age limit

(Minimum of 4 students)

Instructor: Patti McCallum

The goals of this group are to learn to play with a group, count accurately, play in tune, and learn to play separate parts.  Sight reading will be a big part of this class.

Prerequisites:  Student must have completed a level two book of instruction, be able to play by reading notes, know how to count in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4, and 6/8, play in the keys of C, D, G, and F, and commit to practice 2 hours per week.

Fee:  $125 
(Payment is due once the minimum number has registered)

Youth Band

– Ages 8 to 12 (must be 8 by June 1st)

(Minimum of 4 students)

 Instructor: Elizabeth Taylor

Students that are ready to move into a Level II Band Method book and play a wind instrument (flutes, clarinets, alto saxes, trumpets, trombones) are welcome. The students must commit to practice at home at least 4 days a week for about 30 minutes each day to keep up and maximize progress as a group. We will be completing the Level I (red) Standard of Excellence for review in the first two or three weeks, and then move into the (blue) level II Standard of Excellence Book. 

We will be focusing on tone quality, balance of parts, and strengthening breath support this fall. In addition to the method book we will do some two and three parts ensemble songs as a group.  Be Part of The Band!!

Fee:  $100

Jammin' Jents (JJ's)

Instructors: Nancy Siedschlag

This is a group for registered students with special needs who are also taking private lessons at The Shepherd’s Church. Jammin’ Jents performs in the community at least 2 times a year and plays mellow rock music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Participation is by teacher recommendation.

Cost: $100.00 per 10-week session. If registration occurs after the session start date, the fee will be pro-rated for the number of weeks remaining – the payment link will be sent once the minimum number of students is confirmed.
